This is an animation with a real 3D effect without having to wear any 3D-goggles. App store link

This app starts two almost identical 3D animations of a ride in a rollercoaster next to each other on a splitscreen. As you hold the phone very close in front of your face and stare at the animations they start overlapping. It appears as if there were 3 animations next to each other. This causes a surprising 3D effect for the animation in the middle.

It’s tricking your eyes and your brain as you may know from “Magic Eye” images. The difference is that you don’t unveil a hidden image – the effect works on the actual image/ animation.

The animation is smooth but could look either more stylish or more realistic. I’d like to see a surrounding scenery instead of the black backdrop because I expect a dramatic increase of the 3D impression. Update: the current version has a scenery.
