In Edge you control a blinking cube through blocky mazes to collect “prisms” and find the exit. You touch the screen anywhere and drag your finger in the direction you want move the cube. App store link

There are three aspects that make the game exceptionally great: the gameplay, the graphics and the music.

There are 43 levels which look almost the same but the play very different. In some levels it’s about orientation or exploration, in others it’s more about precisely controlling the cube. In some you’re pushed around and some feel like a race. They variety almost reminds of super mario games and this makes the game motivating and worthwhile.

Looking at the graphics in this game is a pleasure. There are only two colours: shades of grey and multicoloured blinking which makes the game very stylish. It also points you to the interesting aspects of a screen as they’re blinking. All elements are placed very precisely and the clean pixel fonts give the screen a lasersharp appearance.

Each level has it’s own soundtrack. The style is somewhere between oldschool 8-bit sounds and detroit techno and fits the style of the game very well. All tunes have great melodies and funky rhythms and immediately drag you into the level. You can download the soundtrack from the developers. This game is one of my favourites. It’s fun, it looks and sounds great and I’d highly recommend it.
