Grey Blocks

Grey Blocks

Guide the permanently bouncing Squareball through a horizontal maze and select different coloured blocks. App Store link (0,79 €)

The ball will bounce up and down in the centre of the screen inbetween the walls of a maze. You move the maze horizontally by either dragging it with your finger or tilting the iPhone according to the  control type you chose. You have to collect the green and blue blocks. If the ball leaves the maze through one of the holes in the walls you’ll lose a live. A real fun game with a sweet 8bit soundtrack. Check the gameplay video & screenshots after the jump!

Rotating spikes

Rotating spikes

Tilt the iPhone to move a puck through amazing mazes. App Store link (0,79 €)

This game works a little like the well known labyrinth app. But there are some major differences. The maze is not limited to the screen size. It extends to the upper screen edge. By tilting the iPhone left and right you’re moving the puck left and right and by tilting up and down you’re actually moving the maze while the puck stays in the vertical centre of the screen. This way, there is much more space for a different kinds of obstacles and other gameplay elements.

A bear in a car in the woods

A bear in a car in the woods

An experimental animal experience game. App Store link (0,79 €)

This might look like a fun retro racing game, but it’s not. It’s rather a car experience from a bear’s point of view. Just like a bear isn’t able to read any manual instructions, you’re not given much advice other than: “Operation Hibernation. Eat fish and berries to fatten up! Winter arrives in 5 minutes.”

Light Wars

Light Wars is a retro space game full of colour. App Store link.

You remember Asteroids, don’t you? Well, this is not exactly the same game, but for me Ligth Wars has something of its spirit. Yes, you are right, there are no asteroids flying around here. Instead of them, spaceships are trying to destroy you. And you must destroy them.

Animation 1

Animation 1

Find letters in the order of the alphabet quickly. App store link

To find a letter, simply tap it. It starts with A and ends with Z. The fun in this game are the animations. For every letter you have to find, there is a different animation with a different amount of letters. Sometimes, they will wander, sometimes they will bounce, sometimes they are rotating, sometimes they move in a hypnotising way and sometimes they behave like a cyclone. The animations always look smooth and colourful. Read the rest of this entry »

No space left

No space left

Frenzic is an action puzzle game about pies. App store link

Pie? Yummy! The pies are cut into 6 equal pieces and they can have 3 different tasty colours. The game works like this: In the center one piece of pie appears. It has one of the 6 possible positions and is either green, violet or orange. You just have to tab one of the six circles around the centre to choose where to put the piece. A dashed ring around the centre indicates the time you have left to make your choice. If you don’t manage to put the piece in a one of the circles in time, you’ll lose a life. Geo Defense – Review

Geo Defense

Geo Defense

This is my favourite tower defense game. App store link.

In a tower defense game, you place different kinds of firing towers on a field to eliminate waves of attacking enemies. For every killed enemy you get money that you can use to build new towers or upgrade the ones you already have. Typically the towers vary in range, strength of bullets and firing frequency. Additionally there is a tower type that slows down enemies. The enemies vary in strength and speed. You loose a game, if a certain amount of enemies breaks through you chain of defense and you win a level by defeating a certain amount of attack waves. Read the rest of this entry »
