Water's turn - a cold card

Water's turn - a cold card

Simple two player card game with a mix of strategy & luck. App Store link (1,59 €)

The players (orange = earth & green = water) fill the board with three types of cards: normal, fire & ice. Play against your friend or the computer. Satisfying and not frustrating if you lose, because you know there is luck involved. Great pixel art and cool 8bit soundtrack.

A medium sized map

Conquer all countries for world domination. App Store link (0,79 €)

This is a strategery game with simple rules and great depth. The dots in the countries represent armies. If you attack a neighbour country all involved armies roll a dice. If you win, your armies move to the attacked country. This is how you expand your empire. At the end of your turn you get new armies for each country in your largest unbroken cluster. To win you have to own all countries. More info and screenshots after the break…

Level with green wall

Level with green wall

A logic strategy game with a good artificial opponent and a nice two player mode. App Store link (1,59 €)

The objective in Artilect is to move the grey circle to the red opponent’s base on the bottom of the game grid. When it’s your turn, you can make one move to the 8 surrounding nodes of the current position. This way you draw a connecting path. If you move to a node that has been visited before, you can make another move and collect extra points. You can not move on a path that has been taken before.

Minefield

Minefield

The sequel to our favourite tower defense game. App Store link (1,59 €)

Geo Defense is our favourite tower defense game. If you’re not familiar, read our review.

Geo Defense Strategy Guide
Sep 17th, 2009 by ploink

Still, Geo Defense remains my favourite tower defense game. For everyone who needs strategical advice on how to beat a specific level I prepared screenshots with tower positions. They illustrate one way to succeed – for most of the levels you can apply other strategies as well. Read the rest of this entry »

Ancient Frog – Review

Delicious fly ahead!

Delicious fly ahead!

Move the frog leg by leg to that delicious fly on the leaf in this puzzling game. App Store link (3,99 €).

For some reason, the feet of this frog can only rest on waterdrops. You have to drag the feet from drop to drop to move the frogs body closer to the fly. What makes this difficult is that the legs movement is limited by the anatomy of the frog. The forelegs are very short and the rotation of the legs is realistically limited by the joints. No space left

Frenzic is an action puzzle game about pies. App store link

Pie? Yummy! The pies are cut into 6 equal pieces and they can have 3 different tasty colours. The game works like this: In the center one piece of pie appears. It has one of the 6 possible positions and is either green, violet or orange. You just have to tab one of the six circles around the centre to choose where to put the piece. A dashed ring around the centre indicates the time you have left to make your choice. If you don’t manage to put the piece in a one of the circles in time, you’ll lose a life. Drop 7 – Review

A column of 3

A column of 3

Drop 7 is a nice looking tetris type of game about numbers. App store link

In this game there are two types of circles falling from the top into the grid: numbers from 1 to 7 and grey numberless circles. Tab a column to drop the circle on the top of the stack in that column. Let’s say you drop a 3. If the 3 ends up in a row or a column of 3 circles of any kind, it will disappear. A 5 will disappear if it lands in a row or a column of 5 circles and so on. The grey circles are locked. You unlock them if they are the direct neighbour of a circle that disappears. Unlock them twice and they will turn into ordinary circle with numbers. Read the rest of this entry »
